Role Overview

The Senior Engineering Manager, Infrastructure will be responsible for leading and scaling Athena’s infrastructure engineering team, ensuring that our platform is robust, scalable, and secure. This role requires a strong technical leader with experience in building and managing high-performance infrastructure teams. The Senior Engineering Manager will oversee the development and maintenance of the infrastructure that powers Athena’s Human+AI delegation platform, ensuring it can support the company’s growth and innovation goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead Infrastructure Engineering Teams: Build, lead, and mentor a team of infrastructure engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Set clear performance goals and provide regular feedback to help the team achieve its potential.

• Develop and Execute Infrastructure Strategy: Define and implement a comprehensive infrastructure strategy that aligns with Athena’s mission and business objectives. Ensure that our infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and optimized for performance.

• Oversee Infrastructure Development and Operations: Manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of Athena’s infrastructure, including cloud services, networking, storage, and deployment pipelines. Ensure the infrastructure meets the needs of our AI-driven platform and supports seamless integration with our products.

• Ensure Security and Compliance: Work closely with the security and compliance teams to ensure that Athena’s infrastructure adheres to industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Implement robust security measures to protect our systems and data from threats.

• Optimize Performance and Scalability: Continuously monitor infrastructure performance and implement improvements to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency. Lead efforts to automate infrastructure management and reduce operational overhead.

• Collaboration and Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with other engineering teams, product management, and operations to ensure that infrastructure initiatives support the broader goals of the organization. Act as a key stakeholder in product development and deployment processes.

• Incident Management and Resolution: Oversee the management and resolution of infrastructure-related incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to the business. Lead post-incident reviews and implement improvements to prevent future occurrences.

• Budget and Resource Management: Manage the infrastructure budget, including cloud services and hardware, to ensure that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing infrastructure teams. Proven experience in scaling infrastructure for high-growth tech companies is essential.

• Technical Expertise: Deep expertise in cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), networking, security, and DevOps practices. Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools. .

• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams. Experience in managing complex infrastructure projects from inception to deployment.

• Strategic Vision: Ability to develop and execute an infrastructure strategy that supports business growth and innovation. Strong problem-solving skills and a focus on continuous improvement.

• Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Security and Compliance: Strong knowledge of security best practices and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2). Experience in implementing security measures and ensuring compliance in cloud environments.

• Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities.
