As we continue to expand our operations and explore new horizons, we're looking for a formidable Head of Legal / General Counsel (GC) to navigate the complex legal landscapes we operate in. This role is not just about managing legal risks but about being a strategic partner to the business, ensuring legal excellence across all facets of our operations.

The Role
The Head of Legal / General Counsel at Athena will be the cornerstone of our legal strategy, spearheading our efforts across various legal domains including Employment Law, Contract Law, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), and Entity Restructuring. This role demands a professional who is not just passionate about litigation but thrives in it, one who possesses a track record of assertive and successful legal advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Athena's legal strategy, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks across all business areas.
Serve as the face of Athena's legal department, representing the company's interests in all legal matters and negotiations.
Oversee and manage relationships with external legal firms locally and globally, ensuring top-notch legal representation and value.
Develop and implement policies and procedures in areas such as Employment Law, Contract Law, M&A, and Entity Restructuring.
Provide strategic legal advice to the executive team, aiding in the formulation of business strategies and initiatives.
Lead litigation efforts, demonstrating a passion for advocacy and a track record of success in the courtroom.
Ensure that all company practices and policies comply with local, national, and international laws.
Manage a team of legal professionals, fostering an environment of professional growth, efficiency, and excellence.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor degree from a top Law school.
Admitted to practice and in good standing with one or more state bars in the US
7+ years of experience
Combined law firm and in-house experience preferred but not required.
Demonstrated passion for and success in litigation.
Extensive experience and knowledge in Employment Law, Contract Law, M&A, and Entity Restructuring.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to represent Athena across various forums and to different stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams, including external legal firms.
Proven track record of navigating complex legal issues and delivering results.
Strategic thinker with the ability to provide practical and forward-thinking legal advice.
