About Loyal

Loyal is a clinical-stage veterinary medicine company developing drugs intended to extend the lifespan and healthspan of dogs. In other words, our mission is to help dogs live longer, healthier lives.

We’ve already achieved significant milestones on our path to gaining FDA approval for the first lifespan extension drug for any species. We have three products in our pipeline and are on track to bring the first product to market in 2025.

Loyal is a well-funded startup in growth mode. Our team includes scientists, veterinarians, engineers, operators, and creatives. This role will play a key role in supporting our growth strategies.

About the role

Loyal is less than 12 months away from the projected launch of our first product. We’re seeking an experienced Senior Recruiter (contract-to-perm) to manage the full cycle recruitment for our ambitious hiring plans leading up to launch.

This role is for someone who has strong experience leading end-to-end recruiting processes for multiple roles at a time. The ideal candidate should have a strong level of comfort in working on roles across various teams within an organization.

You will be reporting to our Chief People + Comms Officer, Cheryl Heinonen.

Your daily work will include:

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment (10-15 roles at a time) for all open roles across Loyal teams, this includes determining the best approach for each role: in-house, contract recruiter, or agency.
  • Partner closely with hiring managers to understand their team needs and identify the right candidate fit.
  • Proactively identify and build relationships with potential candidates using creative sourcing techniques.
  • Manage our ATS system (Greenhouse) to ensure that candidates move smoothly through the process and feedback is well documented.
  • Help design candidate assessment strategies with hiring managers, including candidate take-home assignments.
  • Partner with the People Ops team on compensation strategy for open roles and iterating on our recruiting processes for improvement.
  • Track, analyze, and report on recruiting metrics, communicating updates to hiring managers and leaders.
  • Deliver a high-quality, high-touch candidate experience that aligns with Loyal’s culture and values.
  • Partner with People Ops to transition candidates from hiring to onboarding.

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience managing full-cycle recruitment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record in lead generation, sourcing, and network building.
  • Experience working with ATS systems (Greenhouse preferred)
  • Able to manage ambiguity and create order out of chaos.
  • Positive attitude and willingness jump in and help with projects
  • Strong work ethic, metrics-driven, high sense of urgency, and proven ability to deliver results
  • Clear, polite, and persuasive communication skills
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace applications (e.g. Sheets, Slides, etc.)

While not required, we’d be especially excited if you:

  • Have worked on roles in the pharmaceutical, science, and/or biotech space
  • Have experience with Greenhouse ATS
  • Have worked in early-stage startup environments

How you work and think:

  • Gladly participate in a team-oriented culture
  • Self-starter who is always looking to push the ball forward
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail-oriented, disciplined, naturally seeking ownership and responsibility, and happy to be working on a mix of the fascinating and the mundane
  • Growth mindset, value transparency, seek out feedback and iteration cycles.

Why you might not like this role:

  • This is a fast-paced, rapidly-scaling startup environment. We will always be adjusting our hiring plan as we go, and you’ll need to be able to pivot quickly to those changes.
  • You will be the sole recruiter for all roles across Loyal, and will need to be able to work independently and with limited resources to achieve our ambitious hiring goals.
  • Our recruiting processes are still relatively new. You’ll need to be a champion for recruiting best practices as we build out our Talent Acquisition function from scratch.

Loyal Benefits:

  • Full-coverage health insurance — medical, dental and vision — for you and your dependents
  • $1,000 home office equipment stipend
  • $1,200/year learning budget for books, courses, etc.
  • $250/month wellness budget for gym, cleaners, spa, food, etc.
  • All 3-day weekends are turned into 4-day weekends 🎉
  • Unlimited vacation and paid holidays
  • Paw-ternity leave — adopt a dog and get a day off with your new family member 🐶
  • Annual company retreat at beautiful locations across the country (recently: Tahoe, Cape Cod)
  • Competitive salary
  • Company equity options grant for new hires
