About Primer

Fixing our K-12 education system is a civilizationally-important problem. We believe that all of our problems — including the ones that dominate the headlines — are downstream of education.

We have a simple thesis on how to solve it: empower 1,000's of educators to launch microschools in their communities.

We believe the historical tradeoff between price (tuition) and quality is a false dichotomy.

PrimerOS automates and eliminates much of the costs of traditional schools. Microschools have a structural advantage — asset-light real estate — which means much lower capex and opex. You put it together, and you get something that's never existed before: a world-class education that's accessible to normal American families and can rapidly scale.

About the Primer Leader Cohort

The Primer Leader Cohort is a year-long program designed to help you launch your own Primer microschool. You’ll join other educators around the country working to bring a world-class education to their community. Think of the Cohort like an evening MBA — you’ll be expected to attend weekly live (virtual) programming, join us for the occasional in-person event, and work towards key milestones related to launching your Primer. You’ll be expected to dedicate 5-10 hours per week, and we’ll support you every step of the way.

The best part? You’ll incur zero costs to launch your Primer and you’ll get paid to participate and launch your microschool. It all culminates in June of 2025 when you’ll transition to a full-time leader of your Primer and prepare for your inaugural students to join in August 2025 for the ‘25-’26 school year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source a Campus: Identify and secure a suitable location in your community (e.g., libraries, churches, community centers) with at least three classrooms, open space, private bathrooms, and dedicated parking.

  • Recruit Students: Recruit and enroll the first 15 students for your microschool with the support of Primer’s marketing campaigns and resources.

  • Learn our playbook: You’ll be given and learn everything you need to launch your own Primer microschool, including our curriculum, our proprietary software, marketing materials, and more.

Who you are

  • You have at least a Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year accredited university.

  • You have previous teaching experience (active teaching status is not required).

  • You’re located anywhere in Arizona, Alabama, Florida, or Texas.

  • You’re well-connected to your community. You know where you could easily source a location and students for your microschool.

  • You have an entrepreneurial spark, you’re an organized self-starter, and you’re ready to fix the K-12 education system.

Salary

As a part of the Cohort, you’ll receive a monthly stipend of $1,000. After the cohort concludes and your microschool is ready to launch, you’ll earn a competitive full-time salary (between $60k/yr and $75k/yr depending on your geography) with great benefits and additional earning opportunities.

  • Cohort Kickoff: September 9, 2024
