About Primer

Fixing our K-12 education system is a civilizationally-important problem. We believe that all of our problems — including the ones that dominate the headlines — are downstream of education.

We have a simple thesis on how to solve it: empower 1,000's of educators to launch microschools in their communities.

We believe the historical tradeoff between price (tuition) and quality is a false dichotomy.

PrimerOS automates and eliminates much of the costs of traditional schools. Microschools have a structural advantage — asset-light real estate — which means much lower capex and opex. You put it together, and you get something that's never existed before: a world-class education that's accessible to normal American families and can rapidly scale.

A great educator makes all the difference

At Primer, we believe that kids are remarkable —

and our current system is underestimating them. We need a new system, one where we value what kids learn both outside and inside the classroom. Where they learn how to solve real problems, not pass tests. Where they learn how to think, instead of what to think.

About the role

Primer’s floating substitute teacher works alongside the campus teams to facilitate a strong school experience for kids each day. You will rotate through Primer’s six South Florida campuses, learning daily routines and systems, and supporting operations. As needed, you will lead daily programming in the place of an absent educator. This is a full-time position with a salary of $35,000 plus health insurance and benefits.

You’ll support this strong culture throughout the day, including during the lunch and recess block.

  • Supporting students You’ll participate in various classrooms (kindergarten through eighth grade) and support students alongside the Primer Leader.

  • Maintaining the physical space and operations: You’ll work with the Campus Leader and Campus Coordinator to maintain a clean, organized, and inspiring physical environment.

  • Communicating with families: You'll warmly welcome families and assist the Primer Leader during pick-up, drop-off, and student early releases.

About you

  • You have a passion for working with kids. You’re excited to think outside-the-box and give students an engaging school experience.

  • You love kids and families for who they are and enjoy helping students find ways to explore their passions and curiosities.

  • You love learning. You love to learn and grow personally and professionally, and you are energized by helping students foster that same love.

  • You are flexible and a team player. No job is too small in pursuit of creating excellent and safe learning environments.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be willing to report to work in person at all of our South Florida locations.

  • Teacher certification is not required
